A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

Aside from creating art, I am a public arts curator for two community galleries in Detroit and for Crain Communications, a worldwide publishing company company. The Gallery at Brewery Park and The Community Arts Gallery in Ferndale. I have two boys and a husband, we love to go camping, play video games and kayak.

2. Why do you make art?

Art found me and I found myself through art. Creating helps move me through every phase of my life.

3. What inspires you?

Color! Texture! Ohhh yeah! The feeling of getting lost without having to go anywhere except deep into the layers of a painting.

4. What/who are your influences?

My peers are my biggest influence because not only can I connect to them through their art, I can connect to them in person. That makes their work even more influential to me. Right now my influences are Dawud Shabazz, Chistina Haylett and Daniel Cascardo. All metro-Detroit artists.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

Michael Jackson - He changed the music industry by being the most authentic version of himself. That takes guts!
